Cape Crusades

There comes a time in a grown woman’s life when she has to decide between looking absolutely chic and being able to have full use her arms. I love the look of capes, and although they render any arm movements above the elbow useless, feeling the fabric billow out behind you was you walk does make you feel a tiny bit like a badass superhero. And IMHO, all women are a little bit of a superhero anyway.

For this outfit, I love the look of a contrasting collar peeking over the neckline. Zara is selling these blinged-out collar neck accessories here and here that would make such a cute addition to this cape. And as I mentioned, since a cape’s appeal is due to the sleek shoulder line, you won’t be able to carry a tote bag or shoulder bag so clutches and handbags are the way to go. As for footwear, I can’t help but feel boots with a bit of a heel are the best option, because there’s nothing like a good boot to do some badass ass-kicking in!
